The Board of Trustees of the Roseland Free Public Library has named Elisabet (Liz) Kennedy as its new Director following a competitive statewide search. Liz officially started in her new role in May 2023.
Kennedy brings a wealth of experience working in New Jersey public and school libraries, including more than 6 years as Young Adult and Reference Librarian at Johnson Public Library and School Library Media Specialist at Hackensack High School.
“I feel honored to have been appointed as the new director of Roseland Free Public Library,” said Kennedy. “I am excited to work closely with the staff, board of trustees, and community to continue to nurture the already thriving culture of library use within the borough. I feel like I’m already part of the [Roseland] community and look forward to providing them with inclusive, responsive, and dynamic services.”
“Her demonstrated leadership in a variety of roles combined with her experience with technology, facility management, and thoughtful innovation made her a strong candidate for Roseland,” said James Keehbler, Consultant, Library Crossroads.
Kennedy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Journalism/Media Studies from Rutgers University, Master’s Degrees from San Jose State University in Library and Information Science and Marshall University in Education, and a Certificate in Strategic Management of Digital Assets and Services from San Jose State University.
